Variable Speed Drive Technology

Energy awareness is a field above any other where Atlas Copco is the market leader. In response to market pressure Variable Speed Drive (VSD) type compressors has been a recent addition to many compressor manufactures portfolios. Atlas Copco however were the first manufacturer to develop and pioneer this energy saving technology since 1994. Atlas Copco now offer a variable speed drive (VSD) as an option on most of their compressor range from 7kw upwards.

Typically up to 20% of a factories’ energy consumption is attributed to the operation of compressed air. An Atlas Copco variable speed drive VSD compressor could help you reduce your compressor energy consumption by up to 35% and in most cases will repay its purchase cost within 3 years through energy savings alone.

Energy Audits

Possibly the best way of achieving a full and comprehensive overview of your air usage and related compressor energy consumption is the Atlas Copco I-Trac. The I-Trac is a passive monitoring device placed on your compressor equipment for seven days. This provides us with a full 168hr reading on your air consumption and compressor energy consumption without any disruption to your production.  Wearside Pneumatics will then produce a fully customised graphical report, detailing you current energy usage patterns and recommending possible energy saving solutions. We are also able to supply the information as a cost analysis comparing any recommended expenditure against actual cost savings.

The information generated by the I-Trac can were appropriate be used as supporting information while applying for interest free loans from the carbon trust for energy efficient equipment; such as an Atlas Copco VSD compressor.

Leak Detection

Air is relatively odorless and colorless so is easy to miss, but one thing air is not however is cheap. Wasted air could be costing you a small fortune, large gaps can be obvious but multiple smaller leaks can easily add up. Using specialist equipment our trained engineers will carry out a full site survey. On completion you will receive a full and comprehensive report along with a full and detailed quote for any possible leak rectification.
